HISTORY

'Couture' was first opened in December 1987, originally at 21 Billet Lane, Hornchurch, Essex.

Founded by Sue Goodchild this original shop was a dressmaker's as Sue was a fashion designer and a dressmaker of high reputation in the area and freelance in London for some of the best known couturiers and label's of that time.

Many of the local celebrities and businesses commissioned the Company for various garments and the Company went from strength to strength.

In 1989 the Company moved from 21 to 17-19 Billet Lane where Sue's Husband opened a men's Formal Wear Shop next door.

In 1995 Couture became House of Couture Ltd.  Both Sue and her husband's Companies traded from there with one sign "Couture" which became THE most famous shop in the country.

For many years this progressed and the couple had two children who grew up with this business.

Sadly in 2003 after 31 years of marriage the couple split it and they were divorced in 2004.  The companies went through a dark period but in 2010 House of Couture moved to 14 North Street, Hornchurch, Essex RM11 1QX
House of Couture Ltd was put into voluntary liquidation to clean up all personal relationship issues.

In February 2011 Bridal Department Ltd was formed and the Company now trades happy there with owner Sue Goodchild the sole director. Sue is also the director of the manufacturing company www.suegoodchild.co.uk

In 2012 House of Couture is now well established as one of the areas preferred bridal shops.  Happily Sue is now settled in her personal life and offers bespoke garments to the brides she has always looked after.
